Undefeated Mt Barker march on with ninth straight win in GSSA women’s division one competition
Mt Barker continued their domination in the Great Southern Soccer Association women’s division one competition in round 10 on Friday night, thumping Bayswater 12-1 on their way to a ninth consecutive win.
The undefeated Mt Barker are now sitting six points clear on top of the division one ladder with Polonia trailing behind in second place.
The impressive outfit have scored a mammoth 54 goals and conceded only five across the first 10 rounds.
Meanwhile, a Stephanie Grant hat-trick helped the Caledonians to a comfortable 5-0 victory over the Sonics on Friday.
The fifth-placed Caledonians have endured a see-sawing campaign in the GSSA this season, winning four games, drawing one and losing four.
After failing to register a win in the first four rounds, they have notched four wins in six games to move from eighth to fifth at the end of round 10.
The Caledonians gained the ascendancy early in the contest, firing home an early goal before adding another shortly after as they breezed into half time 2-0 up.
Abbey Goodall and Kristen Pyrz-Brown slotted a goal each while Grant’s three goals piled on the misery for the Sonics who slumped to their seventh loss of the season.
In the final division one match, Elisabeth Bosch and Maggie Jayne-Smit scored four goals apiece in Polonia’s 12-2 annihilation of Polonia B.
Lucy McNamee and Keira Wiegele were the other goal scorers for Polonia.
Bella Jeffs and Mya Oreo snagged two consolation goals for Polonia B.
There were no fixtures played in men’s division one, men’s division two and women’s division two due to a general bye.
