Albany trainer Charlie Draper scored a winning treble and smart three-year-old Tyron Terranova claimed in the Harry Capararo Memorial Prelude in an exciting night at Harold Reid Paceway on Friday.

Tyron Terranova was an impressive winner at his WA debut in Albany on December 20 and made it two victories from two starts for trainer David Hunter when hanging on by a small margin in the Albany Harness Racing Club feature of the night.

Driven by Shane Butterworth, Tyron Terranova showed terrific speed from gate two on the front line to take the lead and set the tempo of the race, before surviving a strong late challenge from One For Dave Andme, who cut back to the sprint lane but was beaten 1.1m in the end.

Tyron Terranova had two unplaced starts in New Zealand last year but started a raging $1.10 favourite on the tote in the Harry Capararo Memorial Sprint Prelude (1832m).

Draper enjoyed a stellar night out at his home track, as in-form mare Adda Tarantella won race 3 and that was followed by success with Aint Misbehavin and Allwood Glow.

Teaming up with reinsman Cody Wallrodt in all three victories, Draper shot to the top of the AHRC trainers’ premiership as a result.

Adda Tarantella had run second at her past two starts in Albany and was backed into a $1.30 favourite in race 3 before winning by 2m.

Aint Misbehavin also started favourite and made good use of his front row start, leading from start to finish to defeat Adrian Shanks-trained pair Miss Stonebridge and Khun Lek in the Albany Travel And Cruise Pace (2265m). Also driven positively, Allwood Glow won the final race on the nine-event program to make it two wins in three runs this campaign for the Draper stable. Sports Package and Bettor Pack It gave trainer Terry Ferguson a winning double at the meeting as well, the latter winning successive races in Albany.

Nathan Turvey sits five points clear of Wallrodt in the drivers’ premiership after notching a double with Bettor Pack It and his own runner Jack William who claimed race 6 as a $1.40 favourite.
