Trails WA has launched a new digital platform featuring downloadable maps, tourism information and details on more than 800 of WA’s recreation trails.

The mobile-compatible website, launched on Thursday, allows users to search for trails anywhere in WA — and not just hiking trails.

The website covers 12 different types of trails, including hiking, trail running, urban walks, horse riding, snorkelling, wheelchair-accessible trails, and food and wine trails.

It also has information on cafes, accommodation, bike shops and transport services to help adventurers as they explore WA.

An interactive online community allows users to track their trail progress and earn badges.

Trails WA chairman Neil Le Febvre said WA had “a host of world-class trails”.

“Participation in trails across the State is currently at an all-time high, with the pandemic having driven people to nature in droves,” Mr Le Febvre said.

“We’ve seen the number of people accessing our social media channels increase tenfold just in the last 18 months, which is a great indication of the explosion of interest in trails in recent times.”

The Great Southern is home to some of WA’s most popular hiking destinations, including Bluff Knoll, Bald Head and Castle Rock.
