There will be limited access to sections of North Road over the coming three months during construction of the new roundabout at Sanford Road.

Local traffic only will be allowed on North Road between Barnesby Drive and Lockyer Avenue, with an area of the road in between the Albany fire station and the City of Albany administration offices completely closed off.

Access to Sanford Road from North Road will not be possible, with drivers needing to find alternative routes including using Barnesby Link, which was completed last year.

Signage indicating approved detours for road traffic and pedestrians will be in place during the roadworks.

Access to parking at the Albany Scout Group hall will not be impacted by construction.

Electronic noticeboards put in place on North Road last week indicate work will begin on Monday, January 29 with a target completion date of April 22.

More than an extra $1 million was allocated to the project budget for the roundabout’s construction in December due to increased associated costs.
