Where and what Toby the cat had been up to for the past two years is the question on Albany resident Fran Charlesworth’s mind.

When Ms Charlesworth’s cat went missing in 2017, she thought that would be the last time that she would see Toby.

That was until last week when a picture of the distinctly marked cat appeared on a local pets lost-and-found Facebook page online.

Life had gone on for the local and she said she had hoped that someone had picked him up and he was in good care but never did she think he would come back into her life.

“We have lived in lots of towns over the past 12 years with him, and we came to Albany eight years ago and moved houses a few times in town during those years,” she said. “Toby had always stayed with us, until we moved to Oyster Harbour a few years ago and he left, which was very unusual because he had stayed with us the whole time. Then yesterday my daughter rang me and said that Toby was on Facebook and she sent me the photos and it was him.”

Wary that the cat could have been Toby’s lookalike, she messaged the lady who had posted his photos.

The outdated microchip details were traced to Ms Charlesworth and, hungry and in need of some care, Toby was reunited with his owner.

She said she wished she had a GPS to see exactly where her cat had been.

“I was wondering whether someone had been feeding him.

“I just can’t believe it and I keep looking at him thinking it’s amazing that he is here.”
