’Tis the season to join in pageant
The jolly season is just around the corner, which means the return of the magical floats for the Albany Christmas Festival and Pageant.
This year, the pageant will return with 45 colourful floats from various groups as they share their Christmas cheer with the Albany community.
More than 10,000 people lined York Street to watch the pageant last year, when Oceans Church was crowned the best float winner.
Oceans Church will be returning next month to bring joy to hearts in the community once more.
Church volunteer Bridget Joyce said members would use it as an opportunity to illustrate their faith.
“We don’t do it for the accolade by any means, we do it because we think it’s an excellent opportunity for us to give the greatest Christmas message to the community,” she said.
The Albany Christmas Festival and Pageant will run on Friday, December 6 and Saturday, December 7. There will be twilight markets, a Christmas tree lighting ceremony and an outdoors Christmas movie on the Friday.
The pageant will run from 6pm to 7pm on the Saturday.
