The Great Southern Soccer Association will launch the successful Summer 6s social competition on Tuesday night.

The fun competition has been running for about six years but will return to the playing fields on the corner of North Road and Campbell Road after being played on the hockey turf for the last four years.

Opening night will be this Tuesday and players will compete through until December 9 — an eight-week season that will be replicated after the new year.

Each team will consist of six players on the field at any one time and have a maximum of three substitutes, with maximum squad numbers capped at nine.

Teams will be split up into four leagues, premier division mixed, women’s social, men’s vets/social (over 35) and under-18 mixed with any female over 14 able to play in this division along with male players 13-17.

Each league will be run with a maximum six teams, nominations received first will gain entry.

All games will consist of 20-minute halves with no half-time breaks as teams change ends and restart play.

The competition will have modified rules, including no off-sides and with the return to grass, football boots and shin pads will be required.

Games will run from 5.30pm until roughly 8.30pm each night.

Anyone wishing to register can contact secretary.gssa@gmail.com or via the Great Southern Soccer Association Facebook page.
