Successful night in the sulky for Hayden Hancock, Dean Miller and Kyle Symington on eight-race program
Reinsmen Hayden Hancock, Dean Miller and Kyle Symington all finished the eight-race program at the Albany Harness Racing Club on Friday night with a winning double.
Trainer Hayden Reeves also enjoyed a successful night as he finished with two winners.
Hancock guided the Ian Mulcahy-trained Yankees Jewell to victory in race two by 2.8m over Swanbourne Spunk.
The gelding won just his second race in 18 career starts and broke through after a run of minor placings.
Sanford Tilly won her second race in Albany this season for trainer John Fagg and was the second leg of a winning double for Hancock in race four.
The eight-year-old mare won by 1.7m over Silent Reaction and prevailed for just the third time in 76 career starts.
Hannah Macella was the first leg of a winning double for Miller in race three over 1832m, saluting by 6m.
The Cheyenne King-Davies-trained pacer justified her favouritism to notch a third win in just nine starts.
Miller finished the night on a winning note, driving the Hayden Reeves-trained Rocky Affair to a thrilling victory in a tight finish in race eight.
Rocky Affair broke maiden status at start six but was made to work for it, prevailing by a half-head over Immachulate, while Navajo Trailblazer was a head away in third and Bathtime fourth a further neck behind.
The first leg of Reeves’ double was last year’s Albany Cup winner Thomson Bay, prevailing by 2.3m in the Hygain Tracktorque Pace (2247m) for Symington.
The five-year-old gelding has been ultra-consistent with nine wins from 19 starts and won as a $4.20 favourite on Friday night.
Symington was successful in the opening race of the night aboard the Nathan Dymock-trained Party Boy Freddy, winning by a head over Batavia Blackhole.
The result handed the six-year-old gelding a second win from 33 career starts.
The locally trained Step It Up won made it three wins in Albany this season after prevailing in race five by 2.9m, while Sugar Street, second in this season’s Albany Cup, was a strong winner over 2265m.
Sugar Street was a raging $1.06 favourite and won by 8.3m for trainer Barry Howlett and driver Mitchell Miller.
