A capacity field will contest the annual Albany Badminton Tournament this weekend at the Albany PCYC this weekend, attracting players from around the State.

Amity Badminton Club will host the tournament and games will be played on Saturday and Sunday in both men’s and women’s doubles and mixed doubles.

Event organiser Jessie Coad said it was a highlight on the club calendar.

“It’s a super popular event, but with four courts, we have to cap it at 48 players and we’ve got 48,” she said.

“We will have four rounds on Saturday and three on Sunday.

“Players are coming from Manjimup, Armadale, Collie, Bunbury, Pemberton and for the first time ever, we’ve got Kalgoorlie coming down.

“We support local business and have prizes for the six winners and on Saturday night, we have a dinner which is well supported.” Amity Badminton Club plays at PCYC and has about 10 members in the event.
