Strong representation for Albany Soapbox Club at Ross Burton Championships in Perth

Five drivers from Albany Soapbox Club competed in the 2021 Ross Burton Championships hosted by the Perth Soapbox Club at Wanneroo last Sunday.

Jasmine Cobain was knocked out during the elimination rounds but Ryder Coleman, brothers Jacob and Christopher Oborne and Jacob Cobain all made it through to the finals to give Albany a strong representation.

Perth driver Estelle Hoffman claimed the junior title while Jacob Oborne filled second, Christopher Oborne was very close third and Jacob Cobain finished fourth.

The event was Jacob and Jasmine Cobain’s first year competing at the Perth track, with its tight S-bends and sweeping bottom corner to navigate through.

The senior championship went to Aidan Hoffman with Albany’s Ryder Coleman finishing a close second, Harrison Dicker-Lee was third with Tyler Patterson rounded out the top four.

Wet weather stopped racing until about lunchtime.

Albany Soapbox Club hold their next race day on Sunday, October 17, from 9.30am.
