Seven teams will represent Albany Netball Association in Perth this weekend in the annual Association Championships at the Wembley Sports Park.

Albany will have representation in the 12-and-under division two, 13-and-under division two, 14-and-under division two, 15-and-under division three, 17-and-under divisions two and four, and open division, at the three-day carnival as they take on associations from WA reg-ions and the metropolitan area.

Albany has a strong open team in division 3, with five A1 players.

ANA development officer Rosemary Wolter said it was a great opportunity for the girls.

“All teams are in grades they should be competitive in, but always a tough comp, and always a guess as to where they will finish,” she said.

“For those teams who don’t get to play indoors their greatest challenge will be playing outdoors and especially if it rains.

“12s, 13s, 14s and 15s play all their games outdoors while only 17s and open get to play indoors.

“Their biggest challenge will be combining as a team against Perth teams who have trained and played together for months and probably played metro league competition together.”

Qualifying games will be played on Saturday and Sunday before finals on Monday.

Denmark will send two teams.
