Steve Wolfe on a hot streak after placing in over 60 per cent of races in June which included six winners

Leading Albany trainer Steve Wolfe is enjoying a rich vein of form this month since taking a team of horses to Perth.

Wolfe has taken a large proportion of his team up to his Ascot stable and is reaping the rewards.

Since the start of June, Wolfe has had 31 runners and finished in the top four 20 times.

He had six winners, two second placings and eight thirds from his 29 gallopers for the month.

Two of those victories came from promising three-year-old gelding The Spruiker.

The long-time trainer has trained The Spruiker to three consecutive victories since returning from a spell with its first win coming on May 25.

The Spruiker put three in a line at Belmont Park on Saturday after upstaging odds-on favourite Bright Diamond by a length.

Jockey Shaun McGruddy landed The Spruiker in the perfect position from barrier 13 just off the leaders in fourth before getting a split between horses and knuckling down to claim victory in the last race.

The three-year-old gelding took his career status to five wins and three further placings from 10 starts and earning over $300,000 in prize money plus bonuses.

Former Eastern States galloper The Great One had his first start for the Wolfe camp at the meeting and produced a gutsy run to finish fourth just over a length off the winner.

Classy four-year-old Mr Mt Walker also ran fourth in his respective race after a dominant first up victory in Pinjarra a fortnight earlier.

Meanwhile Albany galloper Red Can Man is set to be nominated for the Group 3 $160,000 Sir John Monash Stakes (1100m) at Caulfield on July 10 under the care of David Brideoake.

Red Can Man, formerly trained by Wolfe, ran seventh at his Victorian debut and was nominated for a race this Saturday but was withdrawn.
