Laughs are coming to the Great Southern, with the Splash Test Dummies show touring the region this month.

The comedy circus show comes from the makers of Trash Test Dummies, featuring performers Jamie Bretman, Jack Coleman and Simon Wright in a water-themed twist on the concept.

With acrobatics, stunts, juggling and jokes, the Fringe World veterans have toured internationally over the past four years.

Bretman said the Splash Test Dummies concept was an evolution of Trash Test Dummies — a show based entirely around wheelie bins.

“We were at a Perth water park, racing down water slides and we were joking about being the Splash Test Dummies,” he said.

“Another time we were paddling in our wheelie bins in a lake and had the same idea.

“It was a weirdly organic process that we found very fun and funny, which may be why the show is so successful.”

Bretman described their work as a blend of physical comedy, circus and audience interaction.

“Like a Pixar film or an episode from Sesame Street, the show appeals on several levels, with cultural references that resonate across generations,” he said.

“At the forefront of the show is the timeless and universal sense of fun and imaginative play.”

Touring regionally was a different experience from performing in Perth, with a tighter sense of community, he said.

“There is something magical about arriving in a town and everyone comes to see you and stays after the show for a chat,” Bretman said.

Splash Test Dummies will perform in Jerramungup, Lake Grace, Katanning, Frankland River and Albany this month.
