Speedy cadets chase series glory
They may be young but Albany kart drivers Cody Colmer and Harrison Beres have a need for speed.
Racing is in their blood with both their fathers having competed in speedway.
Colmer and Beres, who both began racing on bitumen in 2017, will chase glory when they tackle the final round of South Eastern Zone Series at the Eastern Goldfields Kart Club this weekend.
Nine-year-old Colmer has his sights on overall series success after winning his cadet nine category at the most recent round in Esperance.
Colmer has a slender 37-point advantage over the second-placed James Webster heading into the fourth and final round.
Beres, 10, will compete in the cadet 12 division and is hopeful of wrapping up a podium result in the series.
He finished second overall in cadet nine last year and currently sits third on points in the cadet 12 standings.
Both youngsters will be flying the Albany City Kart Club flag when they hit the track on Saturday.
Fellow ACKC member Brandon Elliott is another making the trip to Kalgoorlie, where he will chase series victory.
Elliott is in a commanding position on top of the Tag 125 light division, leading Lake Grace member Brodie Kratochvill by a whopping 811 points.
Another Albany driver that is in contention for a top-three finish in the four-leg series is Damien Stephens, who is fifth in the Tag 125 restricted medium class.
