South Coast Classic attracts drivers from near and far to compete for $10,000 prize pool
A spectacular $10,000 major modified sedan race will mark the end of the 2023-24 Stevens Ceilings WA Modified Sedan Series at Attwell Park Speedway on Sunday.
Albany fans will be treated to a bumper weekend of speedway headlined by the City of Albany SSA Super Sedan National Title, while the South Coast Classic will be held on Sunday.
The WA Modified Sedan Series wraps up in Bunbury on Saturday night, before competitors venture to Albany to take part in the lucrative race, which is not part of the series.
The event has attracted a field of 17 drivers from across the Great Southern and as far as Carnarvon in an effort to dip their hand in the prize pool.
Drivers will be in a unique situation after it was announced the race will follow a slightly different format from normal proceedings.
Drivers will be given three qualifying laps, with their times pinned against their rivals within their group, before they contest two rounds of heats, then a 25-lap final.
A total of $5000 will be on offer in the final, with the other half of the prize pool going to drivers for attending the event.
