Pingrup product Belinda Smith has helped Fremantle win their second game of the AFL women’s competition with a solid showing off half-back in the Dockers’ thrilling five-point win over Melbourne at Fremantle Oval last Sunday.

Smith, in her second season with the Dockers in the AFLW, was impressive again as she collected nine disposals and laid four tackles in the victory over the Demons.

The Dockers had a 13-point win over Collingwood at Optus Stadium in round 2, while they lost their season-opener to the Western Bulldogs by 26 points at Victoria University Whitten Oval.

Smith had nine touches and five marks in the Collingwood victory and gathered six possessions to go with four tackles in round 1.

However, the upset win over the Demons has the Dockers in the mix to reach the sole grand final between the two highest- ranked teams on March 24.

The 22-year-old plays a key role in the Dockers’ defensive structure and will need to stand up again on Saturday against ladder leaders Brisbane.

The Dockers will face GWS Giants, Adelaide and Carlton in the last three rounds as they try to qualify for their first AFLW grand final.
