Australia Day celebrations in Mt Barker will feature a traditional barbecue breakfast and award presentations at Frost Pavillion on Friday.

Members of Rotary will once again be manning the tongs preparing breakfast for the community from 8.30 before formal proceedings start from 9am.

Awards for Citizen of the Year, Senior Citizen of the Year and Community Group of the Year will be presented by the Shire of Plantagenet.

The Mt Barker Rotary Club will again present its youth award and a list of dedicated volunteer fire brigade members will be presented with Department of Fire and Emergency Services awards in recognition of long service.

A citizenship ceremony confirming a number of Shire of Plantagenet residents as new Aussies will also be part of the proceedings.
