There is a shark advice in place for the area of Oyster Harbour due to a dolphin carcass that has washed up on the Lower King foreshore.

DPIRD is warning that the decomposing carcass may attract sharks to the area.

While it is not uncommon for sharks to be present off the West Australian coast, people are asked to take extra care in the Oyster Harbour area and adhere to any beach closures put in place by authorities.

Shark activity can be reported and viewed via the Shark Smart app or Surf Life Saving’s twitter.

This is the third dolphin carcass reported in the Albany area this month.

Shark sightings can be reported to Water Police on 9442 8600.
