FTC artistic director Renato Fabretti said the team was “incredibly excited” to be bringing the joy of Shakespeare to the regions.

“The FTC creative team has dreamt up a world wherein the mysterious land of Shakespeare’s Illyria comes to life in WA’s own coastal settings, at once wonderfully exotic and comfortingly familiar,” he said.

“Taking a lend from the many boat folk that helped establish one of this coastline’s primary industries, our players will embrace the maritime feel close to Italian fishermen who worked our shores over the past 80 years, with some classy stylings borrowed from the turn-of-the-century Venetian coast guard, alongside some all-purpose woven baskets and a heck of a lot of rope.”

Albany Historic Whaling Station general manager Elise van Gorp said they looked forward to Fremantle Theatre Company returning to their amphitheatre this weekend.

“We really look forward to everyone coming and embracing our pristine environment amongst the wildflower gardens overlooking King George Sound,” she said

“People will be able to enjoy a picnic and drinks from Orange Tractor as the actors bring us their amazing interpretation of The Twelfth Night.

“Be prepared for a fun frivolous evening to be remembered.”

After the shows on the Albany coast, FTC will return north for a final show in Perth’s Kings Park.

Tickets are on the FTC website.
