There is perhaps nothing that says Valentine’s Day more than a red rose.

On York Street, local florist Valentino’s Flowers has stocked up on the symbol of love for one of its busiest days.

More than 700 red roses arrived at the store yesterday, ready to bring smiles to lovers around Albany. Owner Pauline Mayfield said the store had already taken plenty of orders before the delivery, which was a bit unusual.

“Men usually leave it to the last minute or the morning of,” Ms Mayfield said.

“But this year we are not sure if we will have anything left because there is a bit of a shortage of flowers.”
