Railways defender Jacob Blight shines in Claremont reserves’ thumping win over East Fremantle

Railways product Jacob Blight has helped Claremont consolidate second spot on the WAFL reserves ladder, defeating East Fremantle by 61 points at Revo Fitness Stadium on Saturday.

The Albany-raised star had 19 disposals, nine marks and four inside-50s in a stellar display for the Tigers’ reserves side in round 19 of the season.

Blight was named among his side’s best players in the impressive 12.10 (82) to 3.3 (21) victory, that secured his side a top-two finish.

The key defender was well-supported by former Railways player Bailey Bennett, who finished with 10 tackles, 14 disposals and two inside-50s.

In his first game back from a serious injury, ex-Railways forward Coen Jackman produced a solid showing with two goals to go with nine disposals and two tackles.

North Albany’s Rhori Williams-Jolley chipped in with eight disposals, a tackle and one goal.

Meanwhile Borden’s Anthony Davis and North Albany’s Alex Pearce were both named in the best players as the Tigers’ league team suffered a 45-point loss to the second-placed Sharks on Saturday.

Davis accumulated 18 disposals, nine marks and two inside-50s while Pearce had 13 disposals, three marks and two tackles in the 11.17 (83) to 5.8 (38) defeat.

Tigers captain Declan Mountford finished with 14 touches, six tackles and three inside-50s in a gritty performance.

The Tigers league side are fighting for a top-two spot heading into the final round of the regular season.

Ongerup’s Angus Dewar impressed for Subiaco in their final game of the season, helping them to a 63-point league win over Perth at Leederville Oval.

In a forward role, Dewar kicked three goals from eight touches, four marks and three inside-50s.

Talented Royals junior Tom Edwards booted two goals in Swan Districts’ league triumph over West Perth at Steel Blue Oval.

Edwards gathered 14 possession and three marks as his side won by 12 points.

On Sunday, ex-Royals midfielder Steven Edwards was named in the best players for South Fremantle as their league team edged out East Perth by nine points. Edwards collected 18 disposals and six marks in a telling display for the Bulldogs.

The Tigers’ colts side were 52-point winners over the Sharks, with Carson Flower kicking a goal to go with 11 disposals and three marks.

Railways’ Toby Hall had nine touches in the 12.12 (84) to 4.8 (32) triumph.
