RAC rescue helicopter rescues injured man in 60s from Toolbrunup Peak in Stirling Range National Park
A climber who fell while ascending the second highest peak in the Stirling Range National Park has been rescued by the RAC Rescue helicopter and is on his way to Albany Health Campus.
St John WA was called at 9.50am on Thursday to help the man in his 60s, who was hurt while hiking Toolbrunup Peak in the Great Southern.
The man is being taken to Albany Health Campus where he will be treated for non-life threatening injuries.
DFES reports he was not badly injured but because of the peak’s difficult terrain, he could not walk back down.
Crews from Gnowangerup SES and St John WA also attended the rescue scene.
The Toolbrunup Summit Hike is a 4km grade-five trek that typically takes three and a half hours to complete.
