Playground nears finish
Katanning’s All Ages Playground will soon be open to the public after undergoing a redevelopment in the past 12 months.
The playground has been closed for almost a year as the Shire implemented a $5 million upgrade.
The project is in its final stages with the asphalting of roads and carpark nearing completion this week.
Final touches will be put on the playground this month, including installing new interpretive information signage.
The playground has been a drawcard for families from Katanning and surrounding districts for decades.
Shire president Liz Guidera said many members of the Great Southern community had cherished childhood memories of the playground.
The Shire is preparing to host a community fun day to celebrate the fences coming down.
