A southern right whale calf put on a show for delighted onlookers at Middleton Beach on Wednesday.

The calf repeatedly breached as it tracked parallel to the Ellen Cove Boardwalk alongside its mother.

Crowds gathered at the beach and in the carparks on Marine Drive as word spread through social media.
