Pararoos finish 11th in IFCPF World Cup after wonderful Connor Bunce strike sinks Germany in play-off

Albany winger Connor Bunce has capped off his International Federation of Cerebral Palsy Football World Cup campaign with a stunning solo goal from outside the box in the Pararoos’ final match against Germany on Saturday.

The Polonia product received the ball just past the half way line, turned to drive towards goal and juked his defender before lashing a long-range wonder strike to level the score against the Germans.

Bunce scored three goals in the tournament and the 18-year-old has performed as one of Australia’s best players throughout the IFCPF World Cup.

Australia played Germany in the 11th place play-off match in the final round of the tournament with the German side drawing first blood in the contest, scoring in the 35th minute.

Bunce’s brilliant strike in the 40th minute swung the pendulum in the Pararoos’ favour and Australian striker Daniel Campbell removed any doubt, calmly taking advantage of a counter-attack to dispatch Australia’s second for the afternoon as they prevailed 2-1 at the final whistle.

The result helped the Pararoos secure 11th place overall in the IFCPF World Cup standings.
