Albany’s Jenna Onions has needed just two weeks to play her first minutes in the W-League for Perth Glory as the young defender was brought on in Sunday’s thrilling finish against Canberra United at McKellar Park.

Onions was signed by the Glory late last month for the 2018-19 season and she made her debut in the round 2 away clash against Canberra, playing 24 minutes in defence.

Glory coach Bobby Despotovski had to reshuffle his line-up after a red card to Sarah Carroll in the 65th minute, with Onions replacing Natasha Rigby in the 66th minute.

Onions had 24 touches, laid two tackles and had one clearance in a frantic few minutes as Glory came from 4-1 down to net three goals in the final 10 minutes and pinch a deserving point.

At 17, Onions has become the first Albany product to play professional soccer in Australia.
