OFA Round 13: Newdegate run over the top of Lake Grace-Pingrup, Gnowangerup extend unbeaten run
Newdegate produced a dominant second half to record a confidence-boosting win over Lake Grace-Pingrup in round 13 of the Ongerup Football Association on Saturday afternoon.
The Bombers, who were celebrating 100 years as a club at the weekend, led by 10 points on their home ground at half-time but a seven-goal last half inspired the Lions to their fourth win of the season.
Arron Russell was the star for the winners, booting six of their eight goals as the visitors prevailed by 19 points.
The Lions had 10 shots on goal in the third term and kicked three goals to take a six-point advantage into the final term.
Despite their inaccuracy in front of goal, the Lions added four more majors in the final term to record an 8.15 (63) to 6.8 (44) triumph.
Tristan Ballard and Clint Westlake were the other goal scorers for the Lions.
The Bombers were best served by Darcy Townsend, Sam Bertola and Josh Giles, while Jackson Callope kicked two goals.
In the other league fixture, reigning premiers Gnowangerup made it 11 wins on the trot, thumping Jerramungup by 142 points at Gnowangerup.
The Bulldogs are undefeated so far this season as they chase a hat-trick of flags and the winless Eagles were not able to go with them across four quarters.
Liam Phillips was the main avenue to goals, booting six majors in the 24.20 (164) to 3.4 (22) result.
Jacob Hemley and Ben Hankinson were also impressive, while State forward Lewis Davis and Tyler Caldwell chipped in with three goals.
The Eagles’ best performers were Jayden Brooks, Michael Lester, Wade Brown and Brendan Lee (two goals).
