OFA 2023: Lake Grace-Pingrup win fourth straight to send strong message and Gnowangerup close gap on top two

Jerramungup suffered their eighth straight loss of the Ongerup Football Association season after Gnowangerup surged to a 60-point victory at Jerramungup on Saturday.

The Eagles were competitive early and entered quarter-time down by a kick but the Bulldogs found their mojo in the final three quarters kicking 10 goals to two to claim an 11.14 (80) to 2.8 (20) win.

Bulldogs captain Lewis Davis led from the front finishing with three majors while Mac Crichton (three goals) and speedster James Dewar (two) were also instrumental in the reigning premiers’ third victory of the season.

Ethan Caldwell and Charlie Kelsall were also named in the Bulldogs’ best players while Kane Hinkley added two goals.

Brendan Lee and Luke Moran kicked the only majors for the home side while Aaron Winters, Shane Edmonds, Lee and Andrew Solomon-Maere were strong contributors.

The 10-goal win closes the gap to the second-placed Boxwood Hill on the OFA ladder to only four points.

Lake Grace-Pingrup sent a message to the rest of the competition by thumping Boxwood Hill by 73 points in a top-of-the-ladder clash.

In the round nine fixture Lake Grace-Pingrup burst out of the blocks kicking five first-quarter goals to set up their 15.10 (100) to 4.3 (27) win at Lake Grace.

The hosts did not show any signs of slowing down, booting 2.1 in the second before piling on 6.5 in the third to put the game to bed.

Konnah Holmes, Luke Bairstow, Lewis Garard and Austin Cook we all pivotal for the home side while skipper George Bungey, Hayden Richter, Kade Walter and Corey Nelson provided some resolve for the visitors.

Lake Grace-Pingrup now sit on top of the ladder, four points and percentage clear of Boxwood.
