No plea to Perth cafe indecent act charges

A Cranbrook man charged over a series of indecent acts allegedly committed at cafes in Perth is yet to apply for bail after making a brief court appearance today.

Making his second appearance in Albany Magistrates Court via video link from Albany Regional Prison, Geoffrey Robert Boyd, 62, was not required to plead to eight charges following his arrest late last month.

Mr Boyd was charged with two counts of indecently dealing with a child over 13 and under 16, allegedly committed in Nedlands on September 27, and six counts of committing an indecent act.

Police say the six incidents all allegedly happened in the view of customers at cafes in Subiaco, Nedlands, Rockingham, Victoria Park and Mt Hawthorn between September 28 and October 18.

A week earlier police put out an appeal for information to identify a man wanted over two indecent acts.

His defence lawyer advised the court a bail application would not be made and requested a four-week adjournment for legal advice.

Mr Boyd will reappear in Perth Magistrates Court on December 5.
