Narrikup 12 overcame a slow start to win their second straight game in the Albany Netball Association B5 competition last Saturday.

Their opponents Bethel 7 had a strong start in the first quarter with multiple intercepts down the court, several of them thanks to their centre court reading the ball beautifully.

Narrikup were passing and leading well throughout the court but struggling to get the ball into the goal, with Bethel’s defence impressive.

There was plenty of determination from Narrikup shooters Lexi Barr and Macy Stephens, hungry for the ball and to get their shots in.

Narrikup centre Isabelle Bemben pushed herself and held the team well in her position.

A mix-up of positions brought some accurate shooting from Macy Stephen at goal shooter for Narrikup, and they closed in on Bethel, with the half-time score reading 5-3.

In the third quarter, both teams picked up the pace all over court, with great intercepting by both, but the ball found itself in the Narrikup goal circle often, and they netted six goals to extend the lead.

As players tired in the last quarter, some lob passes were coming through but there was still plenty of good signs as Bethel’s goal shooter sunk a couple of great long shots.

Bethel’s defence read the ball well and stood strong but Stephen and Barr kept up their movement and teamwork in the circle to ensure Narrikup finished winners, 14-10.

In the other B5 fixture, Narrikup 13 emerged with a one-goal win over Bullets 7.
