Narrikup Cricket Club will host its annual Twenty20 competition, the Big Bat Bash, for the second consecutive year this weekend.

The T20 event, sponsored by LSR Sports, will be contested between the Narrikup Cricket Club, Albany Masters and Yokine Pilbara Cricket Club on Saturday and Sunday.

There will be three games on Saturday at 9am, noon and 3pm before the top two teams play off in the final on Sunday at 9am.

The competition was launched last year after the unveiling of Narrikup Cricket Club’s giant bat.

The bat is made from aluminium and was built by Westerberg Aluminium Boats, with financial assistance from Rio Tinto, and the attraction stands at 8.5m tall in front of the clubrooms.

Narrikup captain James Morris said he was pleased with the continuation of the competition.

“As part of the Big Bat launch last year, we started the T20 tournament with the Yokine Pilbara Lions in Perth with LSR on a five-year deal,” Morris said.

“We decided to get a tournament going and we’re happy to keep it going every year.

“It’s just a great weekend for catching up with blokes and meeting some new people, too.”

There will be food and drinks on sale on both days for spectators and players.
