Mt Barker Turf Club has lost another meeting after Racing and Wagering WA stewards yesterday announced the track was unsafe to race on this Friday.

RWWA stewards conducted a track inspection on Saturday where several dry patches were found because of a reticulation issue.

Further photos of the troublesome areas were taken yesterday and passed on to stewards, who have deemed the track unsafe and made the decision to cancel the scheduled meeting this week.

The full meeting will now be transferred to Albany, who are fresh off holding their bumper Ladies Day card on Sunday.

RWWA deputy chief steward Harold Taylor confirmed the switch in a statement yesterday.

MBTC is confident the track issues will be resolved before their next meeting which is just 13 days away.

This further setback comes ahead of its biggest meeting on Sunday, January 20, featuring the rich Mungrup Stud Sprint.

Mt Barker has been plagued by track issues in the past couple of seasons, with a meeting last season being switched to Albany after a section of the track in the home straight was waterlogged.
