Morale boost for Albany’s frontline workers

Albany healthcare workers on the frontline of the Great Southern’s battle against COVID-19 have received a heartwarming morale boost.

In a video posted to Facebook last week by the WA Country Health Service and later shared by Health Minister Roger Cook, Albany Health Campus nurses and doctors showed off handmade, thank you cards sent to them by Flinders Park Primary School students.

“As they work around the clock to protect our health throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, showing our frontline workers some love is more important than ever,” the post said last week.

“Thanks to Mrs Briscoe’s class at Flinders Park Primary School in Albany who recently sent our health heroes at Albany Health Campus handmade, thank you cards.”

One worker who received a card was nurse Nash Dube.

“It is great to know the community are all standing together in this, from the youngest to the oldest — we all are united,” he said.

WACHS Great Southern regional director Geraldine Ennis said the cards had raised spirits.

“When you get children who sit down and make cards and draw, write stories on little letters, it makes the staff feel very cherished,” she said.
