In a special moment for the Ballard family and Mt Barker Football Club, a dad and his two sons played together in the same league game on Sunday.

Despite the terrible, wet weather conditions, Bulls veteran Ryan Ballard ran out alongside his two sons Tristan and Sebastian in round six of the Great Southern Football League against Royals.

Ryan, 43, played at both ends of the ground while Tristan, 17, played at half-back and Sebastian, 16, was on a half-forward flank and among the Bulls’ best in just his third league game.

“Super excited to be given the opportunity to play alongside two of my boys, I thoroughly enjoyed being out there,” Ryan said.

“Thanks Mt Barker footy club for allowing us the opportunity, it’s a very rare moment for a father and his sons to play league football together.”

Tristan has been among the Bulls’ better players this season and said it was a special day for his family.

“It was a once in a lifetime opportunity I thought, as it is quite a rare moment to play alongside both Sebastian and Dad,” he said.

Sebastian made his league debut in round four and hasn’t looked back.

“It was a proud moment to be able to play alongside Tristan and Dad,” he said.

“It was a very enjoyable game to be a part of, despite the weather.”
