Albany’s fine football facilities and the skills of more than 200 masters footballers were showcased as the city hosted the AFL Masters Country Carnival last weekend.

More than 250 players had a kick with their mates as 11 teams from around the State ventured to Centennial Stadium.

Albany Vikings were joined by the Busselton Magpies, Leschenault Crabs, Dalyellup Dinosaurs, Vic Park Pigs, Eaton Boomers, Rockingham Rams, Bunbury Sharks, Carey Park, Collie Fossils and Waroona Demons for the round-robin carnival on the three ovals.

Players over the age of 35 are eligible to play masters football, and while their best days on the field might be behind them, their competitive spirit was on display across the carnival. With masters football, no scores are kept.

The camaraderie between teams was a highlight of all the matches played over the weekend.
