Albany’s Summer Event Series program has received a boost with the presentation of a $45,000 Lotterywest grant to the City of Albany.

The grant will help support the city’s big three summer events: last weekend’s Christmas festival and pageant, New Year’s Eve celebrations at Anzac Peace Park and the Binalup Festival on January 26.

The New Year’s Eve celebrations will feature live music, interactive games and roving entertainment before culminating in a traditional fireworks display.

Bringing the series to a close will be the Binalup Festival, which aims to celebrate Australia, Albany and its Menang Noongar heritage and culture.

The grant was presented to city CEO Andrew Sharpe and mayor Dennis Wellington by Albany MLA Rebecca Stephens.

“This Lotterywest funding will support the wonderful range of events being held by the City of Albany over the festive and summer season,” Ms Stephens said.

“I encourage everyone to get involved and enjoy a wonderful Albany summer of activities and fun.”
