Explorations of a range of themes will be included in a collation of poems inspired by Albany’s Grasmere Wind Farm currently being brought together.

A workshop at the Albany City Library led by WA author Gillian Clark kickstarted the project on Saturday.

Clark helped 14 participants formulate their ideas on the page.

“The aim of the workshop was to encourage participants to create eco-friendly poetry with a focus on wind farms and the rich context of the Aboriginal six seasons,” she said.

“By exploring the symbiotic relationship between nature, sustainable energy and Indigenous wisdom, participants crafted poems that celebrate the beauty of the environment, while raising awareness about the importance of eco-friendly practices.”

The workshop, dubbed Whispers of the Turbines: Poetry amidst the Wind Farm, was supported by Bright Energy Investments.

BEI general manager Tom Frood said the workshop was a wonderful opportunity for members of the community to express their creativity and appreciation for the environment.

“At Bright Energy Investment, we are proud to support initiatives that strengthen the social, economic and environmental outcomes for the community,” he said.

Any local writers who have visited the viewing area of Grasmere Wind Farm are welcome to contribute to the collection of works by emailing their poem or short story to info@brightenergyinvestments.com.au.
