The project has been delayed due to weather but is set to be completed within budget.

The section of road is a major link between Ocean Beach and Lights Beach to South Coast Highway.

The project has been funded by the State Government through Main Roads WA, and has been carried out by local contractors, such as MC Civil Contractors.

Shire of Denmark president Ceinwen Gearon was pleased the project would be wrapped up soon.

“This has been a long-awaited project and I’m glad our community will soon be able to enjoy travelling along this newly bituminised road,” she said.

“I’m sure all will agree the Shire and our local contractor worked effectively together to build this upgrade in a sympathetic manner that preserves the feel of the road, which we all loved when it was gravel, with minimal impact to the vegetation and better safety outcomes.”
