Manypeaks will look to keep their unbeaten record intact as they expect to welcome back captain Craig Sinclair for their round 3 Albany Cricket Association A-grade clash with Denmark at Turf North on Saturday afternoon.

Peaks were impressive winners in the opening round, winning by 61 runs to secure a bonus point against newcomers Mt Barker before having the bye last weekend. Sinclair and all-rounder Myles O’Meehan missed the first-round win but the duo are both strong possibilities to return to the Peaks line-up as they take on the new-look Magpies.

Peaks coach Langley Angel said the possible return of Sinclair and O’Meehan created early competition for A-grade spots.

“Myles had a hit in the B-grade last week coming off injury and we are hopeful Craig is available on the back of some heavy work commitments,” he said. “It’s good for selection, there is competition for spots already and we are trying to keep a good blend of youth and experience. We want to build on round 1, where we bowled pretty well and make a few more runs with the bat.”

Defending premiers Railways are the only other undefeated team after the first two rounds of the season but Peaks are still in third place on the ladder with seven points from their opening game.

The Magpies could welcome back experienced all-rounder Jeff Atkinson as they chase their second win after a victory over Royals and then a washed out no-result against Mt Barker thus far.

Atkinson has not played this season but Magpies skipper Dan Robson said he was a chance to come back into their A-grade side this week.

Robson was pleased with new inclusions Hayden Collard, Jujhar Johal and Michael Pratt.

“We are looking forward to (Manypeaks) and go in with plenty of confidence,” he said.

“Those players that have come in have added a lot and there is a lot of upside for us going forward.”

In other matches, North County face the Lions at Turf West and Mt Barker travel in to take on Collingwood Park at Sounness Park.
