IN PICTURES: Thrills and spills as Boardriders’ competitors tear up the waves at Parry Beach for Wavefest

Parry Beach was the ideal spot for the successful running of this year’s senior Wavefest competition on June 1. Strong entry numbers across a variety of categories hit the surf for at the 2024 event, hosted by the Albany Boardriders. The competition was held over one jam-packed day, with division heats and then the all-important finals. Off-shore winds and consistent reliable swells produced great conditions at Parry’s throughout the day. Zen Shepherd went on to win a thrilling open men’s final, by virtue of a countback, while Shannon Armstrong clinched the open women’s title.
