Homelessness service providers invited to register for Housing First Support Service delivery in Albany

Community services wanting to assist homeless and vulnerable people in Albany have been invited to register interest to deliver wraparound supports as part of a State Government program. Housing and Homelessness Minister John Carey announced the opening for registration of interest for community services to deliver Housing First Support Services last week, with the start of the $15.7 million program flagging further homelessness service roll-outs. Announced in the 2024-25 State Budget, HFSS involves connecting rough sleepers to accommodation and appropriate support services, including employment, health, mental health, financial management and social support. Mr Carey said the ROI is the first step in expanding the Regional Supportive Landlord Model to Albany, which will boost social housing stocks and increase support services in the region. “This registration of interest is an important step forward in providing more wraparound support services to people experiencing, or at risk of, homelessness in the greater Albany region,” he said. “The Cook Government is investing $49m to deliver the Regional Supportive Landlord Model which will provide up to 100 regional social homes across Albany, Geraldton and Kalgoorlie. “The SLM prioritises securing housing first for people experiencing homelessness, and then connecting them to essential support services to help maintain their tenancies.” Service providers can apply on the Tenders WA website.
