Hawthorn House to hold annual Christmas Fair on Saturday with tea, scones and a good old sausage sizzle

The community is invited to Hawthorn House for its annual Christmas Fair with a Devonshire tea and sausage sizzle to raise money for the not-for-profit dementia clinic.

The Christmas Fair will take place this Saturday to raise funds for the dementia and Alzheimer’s centre.

Now in its ninth-year running, the festivities will run from 10am to 2pm on December 2, with entry requiring a gold coin donation.

The not-for-profit day clinic supports people living with dementia and Alzheimer’s in the Great Southern.

At last year’s fair about $5000 was raised for services offered by the day centre and respite.

The community is encouraged to come spend the day at Hawthorn House and take advantage of the sausage sizzle and Devonshire tea that will be held in the gardens.

Hawthorn House manager Lorraine Benson said this years fair was expected to host 25 stalls in the gardens, with projects from the Albany MenShed to go up for sale.

“It goes towards Hawthorn House and activities for our clients during the year, and to buy craft stock and MenShed stock, so it (the funds) goes back into the house,” she said.

“There’s 25 stalls this year in the gardens of Hawthorn House, we have a MenShed stall that’s selling their projects as well and community stalls to sell their wares.”
