Great Southern Racing Awards: Adam Durrant’s hot finish hands him strike rate title

Top Perth trainer Adam Durrant enjoyed a fantastic finish to the Great Southern racing season as he claimed the trainers strike rate award.

Durrant, pictured, finished with nine winners from 22 runners at an impressive strike rate of 40.9 per cent.

To be eligible for the award, a trainer must have a minimum of 15 runners in the region, and Durrant had saddled up 14 horses before the final meet.

He started eight horses in Albany at the season-ending fixture. Durrant had eight winners at the final three Great Southern meetings.

Material Witness won two races at Percy Spencer Racecourse, and Durrant’s other winners included promising types Snip’N’ tuck, Soviet Spy, Blackwater Bay, Nurachi, Friar The Gun, Elite Time, and Canto De Guerra.

Durrant defeated Albany pair Roy Rogers on 21.1 per cent and Gerry Hughes on 14.3 per cent for the award.
