Great Southern Football League investigation complete after Royals star Jayson Ford suffered broken jaw

The Great Southern Football League have confirmed the official investigation into an incident involving Royals’ Jayson Ford and Mt Barker’s Darcy Wallinger has been completed and no further action will be taken. Ford broke his jaw as a result of his collision with Wallinger in the second quarter of their clash at Sounness Park in round 11 of the GSFL last week. The Lions requested the GSFL investigate the incident. The investigation started last Monday and concluded on Friday with the investigation officer clearing Wallinger of any wrongdoing in the incident. Video footage from the incident was used in reaching the decision. Ford underwent surgery last Sunday and the Lions match-winner and 2020 Alan Barnett Medal winner is likely to miss the rest of the season. GSFL president Terry Eaton said there was a thorough investigation into the collision to reach the final verdict. “The investigation played out that after taking statements from various people and breaking down the video footage, there was no case to answer for either player,” Eaton said. “I was pretty happy with the report. “It was very well done. “It’s in the hands of the directors and then there’s also been a copy given to the two clubs. ‘It’s great we had the footage because at least we could break it down bit by bit.”
