Great Southern businesses urged to take part in workshop to tap into State Government contract opportunities

A workshop aimed at helping businesses in the region tap into State Government contracts will be held at the Albany Business Centre later this month. The Albany Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Denmark Chamber of Commerce, Great Southern Development Commission and the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, along with the business centre, are encouraging businesses to take part. Centre executive officer Mark Shenton said supplying services to the State could be a “lucrative source of revenue” for local businesses of all sizes. “Many business owners feel overwhelmed by just the thought of looking into the world of government procurement,” he said. “Attending this workshop will give them a strong understanding of what is needed to compete for valuable government contracts.” The three-hour workshop will be facilitated by Procurement Plus director John Filippone, and the $50 registration fee will be reimbursed through subsidies by the Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation. It will cover State Government policies and practices, with participants set to be guided through a detailed case study. Those taking part in the workshop will also get access to three months free support with preparations to apply for State Government tenders from Mr Filippone. Mr Shenton said there were “no current plans to run this event again and places are limited so don’t miss out on this chance to take your business to the next level”. The workshop will run from 9.30am-12.30pm on Wednesday, May 17.
