Fremantle Dockers and Jordan Clark continue impressive start to new AFL season as they thump Essendon

Former Railways defender Jordan Clark continued his impressive form for his new club Fremantle as they thumped Essendon by 48 points at Marvel Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Clark played a running half-back role for most of the contest, providing great rebound, and applied fierce pressure as he finished with 20 disposals, seven tackles, three marks and three score-involvements in the 16.11 (107) to 8.11 (59) win.

Leading by three points at the main break, the Dockers kicked 10 second-half goals to sink the Bombers as Clark led the game in tackles, providing solid support to his midfielders throughout the contest.

The proficient 21-year-old has enjoyed a run of good form since making his move from Geelong to Fremantle in last year’s trade period, playing in all five of the Dockers’ first fixtures.

Former North Albany big man Darcy Cameron was in action for Collingwood against Brisbane on Thursday night and kicked a goal late in the first quarter, to go with seven disposals and six hit-outs.

However, Cameron was taken from the ground with a suspected rib injury in the second half and subbed out of the contest as the Magpies lost 14.7 (91) to 15.8 (98).

Intercept machine Jeremy McGovern was sorely missed in West Coast’s team that lost 9.4 (58) to 18.13 (121) against the Sydney Swans on Friday night.

The four time All-Australian was forced out of the side due to the AFL’s COVID health and safety protocols and he celebrated his 30th birthday in isolation.
