Flying Fifteen skipper Wayne North matches it with more more experienced rivals to win aboard Frequent Flyer

Flying Fifteen skipper, Wayne North, aboard Frequent Flyer, proved on Saturday that he could match it with his more experienced rivals to win on corrected time being less than a minute behind Simon Lucas in FForever Young.

North didn't get off to a decent start but worked his way to get into second place ahead of Aileen Lucas in Crazy where he stayed for the rest of the harbour-course race held in a light southerly.

The conditions didn't suit FForever Young as the other two were able to stay close.

Simon Lucas crossed the line just ahead of North but could only get a third placing on handicap and a fastest time.

North won, to his delight, and Crazy took second place.

Division 2 sailed in King George Sound and three yachts were involved.

Stephen Lee in Flasheart showed no mercy to Stephen Brown in Mary Maitland and Neil Worrell in Zuri and bounded away to establish an unbeatable lead.

On returning to the harbour for the last two legs Flasheart was so far in front that the race was all over.

Lee went on to win handsomely by more than six minutes ahead of Brown, who took second place and 18 minutes in front of Zuri which was third.

Division 3 sailed around a harbour course with three yachts competing.

Karen Timmins in Grey Moose had a great battle with Rob Cridge in Noel Robbins for the major part of the race with the lead changing frequently.

Mark Paynter's Saxon, being skippered by Clive Walker, was desperately trying to stay in touch but was dropping off the pace as the light winds became lighter.

The big surprise, however, was that Saxon was announced the winner on corrected time.

Grey Moose took second and fastest with Noel Robins getting third place.
