Five-goal effort helps Stirling Rangers down Rovers in round two of Albany Junior Soccer Association

The Stirling Rangers 16s remain undefeated in the Albany Junior Soccer Association, handing the Rovers 18s a successive loss in the under-18/16 competition on Saturday.

The Rangers put five goals in the back of the net, with the Rovers only managing a solitary goal as they fell short in round two.

Meanwhile the Denmark 18s slammed three goals past Polonia 16s to earn back-to-back victories.

Polonia 18s were 5-1 victors over the Denmark 16s while the Albany Bayswater 16s and John Calvin 16s battled out a 3-3 draw.

In the under-14 division, the Great Southern Griffins slumped to a 6-0 defeat against the Caledonians.

Elsewhere ACC Southlands were 4-2 winners over John Calvin and Polonia prevailed over Denmark 5-0.

In the final match in the competition, the Rovers moved to top spot with a crushing 8-0 result over the Stirling Rangers.

In the under-15 matches, Denmark fought to a gritty 3-1 win over Polonia to hand them a first loss, while Albany Bayswater also joined the winners’ list, storming to a 6-0 triumph against the Great Southern Griffins.

The Rovers notched a first win of 2023, pushing past the winless Stirling Rangers with a 4-2 result.
