Nanarup, Kalgan: Firefighters bring blaze that started near Nanarup coast under control
A bushfire that forced a watch and act warning for parts of Kalgan and Nanarup in the City of Albany on Monday afternoon, has been downgraded.
Firefighters were called to a blaze that began at 3.17pm near Islet Point in Nanarup.
Just after 4pm, the Department of Fire and Emergency Services issued the alert for the area bounded by Nanarup Road and Gull Rock Road to the coastline in parts of Kalgan and Nanarup.
At 5.05pm that alert was downgraded to advice level for people bounded by Mt Richard Road to the north, Islet Road to the west, the coastline to the south and Nanarup Road to the east in Nanarup.
There is no threat to lives or home and the bushfire is stationary.
Various appliances from bushfire brigades in the City of Albany were responding to the fire.
A DFES spokesman also confirmed that aerial support had been requested to help fight the large blaze.
The fire is burning near Albany’s luxurious Maitraya Private Retreat.
