Fifth win of the Albany Netball Association A7 season ensures Royals Saints 4 move clear in second spot

Royals Saints 4 moved clear in second spot on the Albany Netball Association A7 ladder after a strong victory over Kangas 6 last Saturday. The two sides were locked together heading into their round eight fixture but Royals Saints prevailed by 12 goals. With both teams coming off wins the previous week, it was Royals Saints who jumped out of the blocks to score the first five goals of the game. Arli Vanderleer proved a handful for the undersized Kangas defence. However, Kangas responded quickly to reduce the margin to just two by quarter-time. The second quarter went goal for goal as Royals Saints took a four-goal buffer into half-time. The third quarter belonged to the Royals Saints centre court combination of Imojene Gill and Caitlin Williams, their drive and polished passing giving their shooters easy shots time and time again. This allowed Royals Saints to push ahead by 12 goals heading into the final term. Kangas’ Hayley Williams worked tirelessly in defence but the supply was too great, and Royals Saints ran out eventual winners, 44-32. In the other A7 match it was the winless Bullets who caused a massive upset, beating ladder leaders Narrikup, 25-23, in a quality game of netball.
